Devotion 1 - The Bride Makes Herself Ready

Devotion 1 – The Bride Makes Herself Ready   So much has been said about the Second Coming and the Signs of the Times—but what information can we really trust?   I think we should not be focusing on when the event will take place but rather, how we are living in preparation for the glorious and long-awaited day, with joy and anticipation. Instead of trying to predict the exact date of His Coming, we merely have to live ready for His Coming.     The church is likened to the bride of Christ.   As a bride, how can we be ready? Rev.1:4  – “ John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come , and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne…”   Rev.1:8  -   “I am the Alpha and the Omega,   the  Beginning and the End,”  says the Lord,  “ who is and who was and who is to come , the   Almighty.”   God is eternal, He is the Alpha and the Omega, He precedes all things and He will bring all things to conclusi

Devotion 2 - The Parable Of The Wise & Foolish Virgins

Devotion 2 - The Wise and Foolish  Virgins Matt.25:1-13 - “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open t

Devotion 3 - How To Make Ourselves Ready?

Devotion 3 – How to make ourselves Ready?   There are three kinds of righteousness mentioned in the Scripture:   Human Righteousness   Isa.64:6  – “We are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags…”   When it comes to our justification, our “good” can never be good enough for the perfectly holy and completely righteous God to earn our own salvation. As Isaiah points out, our righteousness is about as good as ‘filthy rags’. In Hebrew it literally means, “like as rags of menstruation.” The point is, both our acts of righteousness, and the quality of righteousness that we hope can get us saved, are disgusting to God. Indeed, the gospel is good news because we are saved not by what we have done, but by what Christ has done. We can never be saved by our own good works of righteousness!   Imputed righteousness   When we believe in Jesus, we are made righteous in Christ through faith. His righteousness is imputed to us. We are made

Devotion 4 - Keeping Our Garments Of Righteousness

Devotion 4 – Keeping Our Garments of Righteousness   Matt.22: 2-14:  _  “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come .   Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner;   my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”   But they made light of it [they disregarded the invitation, treating it with contempt   and went their ways, one to his own farm, and another to his business...   vs.8 - Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.     Therefore, go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’   So those servants went out into the highways and   gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. vs.11 - “But wh

Devotion 5 - Not Defiling Our Garments of Righteousness

Devotion 5 - Not Defiling Our Garments Of Righteousness   Rev.3:4-5  – “ You have   a few names   even in Sardis who have not   defiled their garments ; and they shall walk with Me   in white , for they are worthy .   He who overcomes   shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the   Book of Life ; but   I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.   Before coming to faith, our own ‘garments of righteousness’ are like ‘filthy rags’ (Isa.64:6). Having trusted in Christ, we are clothed with the garment of salvation and the robe of righteousness (Isa.61:10). However, the bible clearly warns that we can defile our garments when we choose to walk in sin.   The fact that the bible says “few…have not defiled their garments…” imply that many have defiled the garment of righteousness given to them. And the warning “I will not blot out” also implies that the person’s name is already there in the Book of Life, and he needs to be a

Devotion 6 - Two Phases of Christ's Second Coming

Devotion 6 - Two Phases of Christ’s 2 nd Coming The End Times can be more easily understood when a distinction is made between the coming of Christ in the heavens for the rapture of the Church, and the coming of Christ to the earth for the nation of Israel and to reinstate His kingdom. In other words, there are the two phases to Christ’s second coming.   Let me try to explain why we believe the second coming of Christ will happen over two phases. There are Bible references which distinguish the Gentile dispensation from the Jewish dispensation. The Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 met to consider the question of the Gentile and concluded that God (in the church age) was visiting the Gentiles to choose from among them   a people for His Name sake, and would one day return to “restore the tabernacle of David” (implying the Jewish kingdom) (Acts.15:14-16). Paul spoke of the rejection of the Jews and the salvation of the Gentiles until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. (Rom.
